CARP HARVEST AT A POND IN BOJKOVICE

CZECH REPUBLIC MORAVIA BOJKOVICE 30OCT10 - Villagers beat their sticks in the water to harvest carp and other fish from a private pond near Bojkovice.

Breeding carp and catching the fish by emptying the pond is an age-old tradition, as carp is the traditional Christmas Day dish in the Czech lands. In Bojkovice, the occasion occurs once every four years.
