CHINA SICHUAN PROVINCE CHONGQUING MAY99 - People stand on the shore of the Yangtse river where it merges with the Jailing river. Seven large cities, including Chongquing, and thousands of villages will be submerged once the water level rises after the completion of the controversial Three Gorges Dam project further downriver.
